There are tons of different training programs out there. And all of them swear they can get you in fantastic shape in no time. And one of the big selling points is a lot of different workouts.
Are you looking for a variety of workouts?
A past client of mine expected me to create a new routine every week. She claimed that she was bored with the exercises. That comment came from a person that walked for 45 min. on a treadmill 3 times per week.
If you want entertainment, go see a movie. If you drag yourself go to the gym, expect to put some effort. And you can’t put some effort if you don’t know how to perform the exercises properly.
First, find a program that you like and that will help you achieve your goals.
Second, learn the proper technique.
Third, gradually maximize the resistance you can work with.
Fourth, remember that variety doesn’t mean changing all the exercises.
As an example, let’s look at what you’ll find on this bog. Squats and push ups, have been part of my workouts since the start. I just performed them in different ways. Knowing the exercises will allow you to put more intensity thus faster goals.
In “The 4-hour body” Tim Ferriss applies this rule to food. He suggests you repeat the same meals. It takes the guess work out of the equation.
