Most golfers make the mistake to think that the golf clubs play the game. And even though technology is very much present in today’s golf apparel, pro score are comparable. Remember that your body plays the game.
Here are 4 tips to get your body ready.
1. Improve your flexibility. Find out which muscles are tight and get to work. Your back swing and follow thru will be that much better.
2. Get better balance and stability. That will make you hit the ball on the sweet spot. Try my pendulum exercise. (See post March 25)
3. Increase your core strength. That way it will be easier to maintain your position during the back swing. And your back won’t get tired as fast. Include the plank in your program.
4. Evaluate your posture. Having good posture will increase your chance off a perfect swing. And it will prevent injuries to your spine.
Too many golfers want to work on strength and power. In fact you would gain more from increased flexibility and balance. And to quote a fitness guru: “You can’t fire cannon from a canoe”.
