Do you bypass this part? If you do, it may cost you success with your workouts. It is the only way to know if you are going into the right direction. But most people are too lazy to do it. And they end up repeating the same workouts with no results.
What am I talking about? Track it.
Here is the importance of a training log. You should record your performance of every workout; reps, time, tempo, rest periods, etc. Girth measurements would be important. More info the better. This will be your compass. This is how you will know if you are getting stronger and better or breaking down.
Here is how Plowman and Smith put it in “Exercise physiology for health, fitness and performance”.
“One of the most helpful things that the exerciser can do is to keep a training log, including HR, BW, and other physical or mental feelings and planned versus achieved workouts.
Most people don’t work hard enough. But in some cases, there are eager beavers that think more is better. Big mistake. It is like taking more medication than you need. You may create another problem instead of just getting rid of your headache.
If you did your workout right (proper intensity) your body needs time to recover its energy and adapt. Adaptation happens when you are not working out.
Success comes from proper eating, proper training and proper recovery.
