One more thing about High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

Here’s an obvious fact: working out at a high intensity will make you burn more calories. Who doesn’t want the biggest caloric burn per minute? And there is an added bonus that you may not know about. This one happens after the workout.

If you go for a slow walk, you burn calories during and it stops when you do. But with a HIIT session, you get an afterburn. Yes, you keep on burning extra calories after you stop. And the more intense the workout, the more calories you burn post. How’s that for a bonus.

How long does it last?

A study in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, reported a 33% increase in metabolism even 3 days after the high intensity workout. So your body may be revved up for 72 hours post-workout. So if you need to burn fat fast, you know what to do.

An average exercise program done with intensity will yield better results than a perfect program done half-heartedly.
