I found this article in a recent Men’s Health. It explains what Yankee pitcher CC Sabathia did to shed 30 lbs. Obviously, CC had to change his eating habits. And surprizingly, he went back to basic for his workout in the gym. And here is one line from his trainer I agree with 100%. T.J Lopez said “Keeping your heart rate elevated is essential to fat loss.” Do you know what that means? Something I’ve said before: Intensity is the key!
This is not new. It has been in the scientific literature for over 15 years. Here is a quote from a study published in 1994 titled “Impact of exercise intensity on body fatness and skeletal muscle metabolism.”
In conclusion, these results reinforce the notion that for a given level of energy expenditure, vigorous exercise favors negative energy and lipid balance to a greater extent than exercise of low to moderate intensity.
Here is the link if you want to read the abstract.
Try it this way:
Are you ready to kick your own ass and burn some blubber? Combine Jump Squats, Push ups and jumping jacks in a circuit. Take 60 sec rest and repeat. If it is too easy, increase the number of reps. Can you find your sweet spot? Just around puking and passing out?
