Do it for your health first.

Your priority should be on your health and everything else will fall into place. If you focus on improving your health, it is more likely that you will stick with it. Instead of constantly weighing yourself and going crazy because you did not lose that pound you were suppose to.

A study published in 2005 (1) reported that a lot of factors can prevent you from losing weight with an exercise program. But if you focus on fitness and improving your health profile first, it may increase your chances of fat loss.

And it has been reported that fit overweight women (2) and men (3) have a better metabolic profile and live longer than their unfit but normal weight counterparts.

So get off the weight scale and focus on health first. It will prevent a lot of problems and it will be a stepping stone to fat loss.
