Do you still think that you need equipment to workout? Sure
it is nice to have but equipment is not required. New exercisers often make the
mistake that equipment is necessary for a successful exercise program. I can’t
blame them, with all those ads on TV trying to sell the new gadget. If you need
it to get motivated, go ahead. Regardless, you have to make the magic.
You are the workout magician. You are the one that makes the
workout work or not. You will make it challenging or not. The challenge is what
will help your body improve, not the equipment. You see, your body does not
care if you are using external weight or if you are on a treadmill. The human
body is the laziest thing you can find. If you make it work a little harder
than usual, it will adapt to make its job easier. Your body will adapt if it
has to, regardless of the presence or absence of fitness equipment. Just
gradually challenge yourself. Just like climbing the stairs one step at a time.
The other excuse that wannabe exercisers use is lack of
time. They think that an exercise routine is supposed to feel like a part-time
job. Yes it can be time consuming if you go to the gym. The drive to and from,
changing, shower, busy gym, can eat up a lot of your time. But there’s always
an alternative. And a little activity is always better than none. Even if you
accumulate short bouts of 10 minutes.
You have to make the exercise sessions fit your life. Look
at your schedule and decide when you can fit it some activity. Be realistic.
Commit to be active on those days. And the important part is to create a habit
of being active. At first, don’t get fancy, keep it simple. You can start by
going out for a 15-min walk during lunch. Also, you can easily workout at home.
So with that in mind, here is a little video I made. It’s
nothing fancy, just basic exercises you can do at home. I like to keep it
simple and effective. I’m not an athlete or a fitness model. I look like a geek
compared to the guys in the other videos. I’m just a regular guy that wants to
stay healthy. I hope this helps you. Let me know what you think.
