Here are a few tricks that will allow you to get the most out of your workout. If you are like me, you want the maximum return for your time. And not spend more time than necessary.
1. Use as many muscles as you can.
Choose exercises that will let you engage as many muscles as possible. That is the way to get your heart rate up.
2. Alternate body parts.
This is a little trick I use when I tell people I can make my workouts more intense than spinning. Do an exercise for your lower body and follow it with one for your upper body. Your legs get a rest while you work your upper body. But your heart and lungs work overtime.
3. Get the max out of basic exercises.
Too many people get into the "new" exercises before even mastering the basics. Forget the Bosu ball and squat from the floor first.
